Correct Cleansing
Correct cleansing is the first step towards achieving a healthy and radiant skin.
Why?
Because overly alkaline, lathering, harsh exfoliation (whether by acids or granules) type cleansers are all too severe for your skin. Remember, your skin has to last you a life time, be gentle!
Your skin needs effective, yet gentle cleansers, that respect the pH of your skin, which is naturally acidic to protect against bacteria, and cleansers that don’t dehydrate the hydrolipid layer. Your skin should feel comfortable and nourished after cleansing, not tight.
If you have an oily skin, those products that ‘strip’ the skin for that ‘squeaky clean’ feeling, that’s a sign that your acid mantle has been disrupted, and your skin is likely to just produce more oil to compensate. Squeaky clean is for the dishes, not your skin.
3 Natural, gentle and effective cleansers
Iconic Cleansing Cream, our much loved Soothing Cleansing Milk and the reasonably new formulation in our cleansing line up is Cleansing Balm.
Each end of the day has different cleansing needs. In the morning, after the night time elimination activity of skin, your skin needs a deeper cleanse. We highly recommend Cleansing Cream for use in the morning, as a deep cleanser and gentle exfoliating cream. It’s not a make-up remover.
In the evening and if you’re a makeup wearer we recommend Soothing Cleansing Milk to cleanse your skin from the dirt, dust and pollution from the day and it’s also an adept make-up and eye make-up remover. Use as a single or double cleanse.
Cleansing Balm is the newbie in our cleansing range. Its formulation transitions from balm-to-milk with the addition of water. It may be used morning and evening. It’s refreshing and nourishing. The main ingredient which acts as a cleansing substance is chalk, a component long-known precisely for its cleansing effect. It has a particularly large surface area which absorbs impurities and excess sebum, as well as a fine-grained structure ensuring it can be gently and easily rinsed off. Quick and efficient cleanser and makeup remover for everyone. Guys with beards appreciate its easy rinse off.
Personal preference around cleansing, however, some customers love to use Cleansing Cream in the morning and Soothing Cleansing Milk in the evening for their first cleanse, but their evening secondary cleanse use Cleansing Cream. Other customers prefer to use Cleansing Balm for both morning and evening.

How to use: Compress and hydrate skin. Mix 1-2 cm of concentrated Cleansing Cream with warm water in the palms to form a smooth, creamy emulsion. Press mixture gently onto skin then roll hands up and away in a wave-like motion – ‘press and roll’. Start in the centre of the forehead then slowly work outward and down. Avoid the eye area. Repeat the press and roll action 2-3 times. Do not rub or scrub. Rinse with warm water then finish with splashes of cool water.

How to use: Ideally, ‘Compress and Hydrate’ skin, apply Cleanser evenly, remove with warm, moist Compress Cloth or Cleansing Sponge.
We recommend Compress & Hydration for your skin prior to cleansing:
Pour a little Bath Essence into your basin
Disperse with hand hot water
Immerse your Compress Cloth, squeeze out excess water and press onto your skin, repeat 2-3 times
Cleanse with Cleansing Cream or Soothing Cleansing Milk or Cleansing Balm
Always complete cleanse with splashes of cold water
Why?
Compress and Hydration softens pores to achieve a much deeper cleanse and also ensures you’re using your cleansing products more economically. When you complete your cleanse with splashes of cold water you activate the minute muscle that sits alongside the hair follicle which contracts, helping to remove any remaining dirt. This simple technique leaves your skin feeling super sooft as well.
