"Rhythm carries Life." This statement, made by the Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner, inspired Dr. Rudolf Hauschka as he searched for ways to capture and preserve the healing essences of plants.

Using three basic polarities that are a part of the life in Nature: warmth and cold, light and dark, stillness and movement, Dr. Hauschka discovered a water extraction method that produced pure, stable, therapeutic substances without the use of alcohol or synthetic preservatives. By hand-harvesting the plants at sunrise when their vitality is most concentrated and processing them using Nature's own powerful rhythmic forces. Dr. Hauschka broke new ground in the pharmaceutical industry.

The 7-day rhythmical process, used to create Dr.Hauschka Skin Care extracts, allows the healing aspects of Nature to be directly imparted to the skin. The skin responds by activating its own healing processes. In effect, the skin learns to balance itself - Naturally.

WALA's 7 day processing method begins with hand-harvesting at sunrise when the plant's life forces are most concentrated. Plants are washed, taken to the laboratory and imperfections are removed. The plants are chopped by hand. Using a mortar and pestle, the plant is further processed. The substance is added to spring water. The liquid is stirred in an ice bath. After 3 and a half days, juices are pressed out and the plant pulp is left to dry. The rhythmic treatment continues with the liquid extract. After 7 days the dried substance is made into ash. This process reduces the plant to a mineral state. A small amount of the ash is mixed back into the liquid extract. For one year the substance is stored in a stable environment. The extract, known as "Mother-Substance" is the core of WALA's work.

Not all ingredients in the Dr.Hauschka Skin Care products undergo this specific process, but each plant extract is subjected to some or all aspects of this method.
